Au cours des années 2001 et 2002, j'ai suivi la construction du CNB 104' Only Now dessiné par German Frers, pour le compte du propriétaire et du chantier naval CNB. Si la construction du bateau a été un défi technologique, elle l'a été aussi pour moi, car c'était les toutes premières années de la photographie numérique... Les premières images ont été capturées avec un appareil photo Sony utilisant une disquette ! Puis vinrent de meilleurs appareils...

Lorsque Only Now a quitté CNB, il s'agissait de la coque n° 43. Avec plus de 50 yachts construits à l'époque, Only Now restera celui qui fait bondir nos cœurs. C'est l'un des plus beaux yachts construits par CNB et pour cause, le projet Only Now est fondé sur la technologie, les techniques et l'esthétique. En témoignent la coque et le pont qui représentaient à l'époque de leur construction les deux plus grandes structures sandwich carbone/vinylester/balsa jamais fabriquées selon le procédé d'infusion et la quille basculante dont le bulbe de plus de 22 tonnes était également le plus grand jamais monté... Mais ces défis technologiques n'ont d'intérêt que parce qu'ils servent la qualité architecturale de ce magnifique yacht. German Frers (Only Now est son 7ème bateau construit chez CNB) a dessiné une forme de coque, un plan de pont et un gréement qui laissent admiratif par leur apparente simplicité, un design si évident qu'il en devient le résultat.

In 2001 and 2002, I followed the construction of the CNB 104′ Only Now designed by German Frers, on behalf of the owner and the CNB shipyard. If building the boat was a technological challenge, it was also one for me, as it was the very first years of digital photography… The first images were captured with a Sony camera using a floppy disk! Then came better cameras…
When Only Now left CNB she was hull # 43. With more than 50 yachts built at that time, Only Now will remain the one that makes our hearts leap. She is one of the most beautiful yachts built by CNB and with good reason. The Only Now project is founded on technology, techniques and esthetics. Evidenced by the hull and deck which at the time of their construction represented the two largest carbon/vinylester/balsa sandwich structures ever manufactured using the infusion process and the canting keel with a bulb weighing more than 22 tons was also the largest ever mounted. But these technological challenges are only interesting because they serve the architectural quality of this magnificent yacht.
German Frers (Only Now is his 7th boat built at CNB) has designed a hull shape, deck plan and rig that leaves one admirative of its apparent simplicity, a design so evident that it becomes the result.
